Danielle D'Amico is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University in the Stress and Healthy Aging Research Lab. Danielle's research focuses on risk and protective factors for cognitive decline across the lifespan, with a specific focus on chronic stress and lifestyle behaviours (such as diet and nutrition, physical activity, social engagement, and stress management). Specifically, Danielle's work aims to 1) understand how stress across the lifespan impacts cognitive health in older adulthood, 2) examine how engagement in healthy lifestyle behaviours may minimize the impact of stress on cognitive function, and 3) explore allostatic load as a biological mechanism through which stress and lifestyle behaviours exert their influence on cognition across the life course. Danielle is also interested in the use of virtual programming to facilitate brain health with aging.
